I am planing a trip to NYC over the 4th with my family. I love doing night photography that requires a tripod. These policies are still happening to date? There are many classic spots I want to photograph such as bridges, fireworks, street scenes, buildings, and ect. So i should expect to be hassled, right? Are these the police or private security, or all? I guess the laws that protect us as photographers don’t apply in NYC. If you are gonna be around on the 4th I will join the photography outing with you.

Places I had been harassed (pretty much the same): using tripod in Times sq.. bloomberg building..Mcgraw hills on rockefeller and buildings on park ave…

agreed that the arguing about “pro” equipment is one of the dumbest thing I have ever heard in my life. trust me small devices has more threats than a DSLR such as pocket cams…or James Bond or CIA kinda devices…people who using DSLR is at least being honest, and not afraid of being noticed of taking photos since it’s so visible..

that day I was watching when they evacuated the 1 NYP, everybody was out.. New York Police dept didn’t know what’s going on until half hour later (about 11 oclock)
Didn’t know Obama was snapping few photos of statue liberty

wish i was here before 911 happened!
